European Mental Health Week 2026: Youth-GEMs highlights the power of youth involvement
- May 4, 2026
From 4–8 May 2026, European Mental Health Week puts mental health in the spotlight across Europe. This year’s theme, “Stronger Together: Prioritise Mental Health in a Changing Europe,” closely aligns with the mission of Youth-GEMs.
Throughout the week, Youth-GEMs is sharing a series of videos and stories showing how young people are shaping the future of mental health care.
The week kicks off with project coordinator Bart Rutten introducing Youth-GEMs and explaining why research matters and can be exciting 👇🏻
By working with young people, rather than only studying them, Youth-GEMs aims to create support that truly fits their lives. In collaboration with Euro Youth Mental Health, young experts play an essential role, directly influencing the research – and new young people are always invited to join.
One of our young experts, Guio, shares how joining the project was valuable to her, along with simple everyday actions that support mental wellbeing – showing that small steps can make a difference 👇🏻
