Science Cafés
At Youth-GEMs, we are firm believers that young voices are key to our project’s success. Every month, our researchers and Young Experts meet online for two hours in Science Cafés to address specific research topics or project tasks.
Facilitated by EYMH, these interactive sessions offer a safe space for sharing insights and feedback while also fostering a deeper understanding of mental health research. At the next Science Café, presenters highlight how this input has been applied, strengthening our co-creation efforts.

Data-harmonization and Artificial Intelligence & Mental Health
Data-harmonization and Artificial Intelligence were the main topics of the 10th Youth-GEMs Science Café.

Interaction genes & environment
Not only do our genes determine our mental health, also the environment and adaptive mechanisms (epigenetics) play an important role.

Ethics in the study of mental health
In this café Mariël Kanne (ethicist) was invited. Mariël asked the young advisors to have an ethical reflection on how to work with young people with lived experiences.
